Flower festival to brighten St James

GRAAFF-REINET — A reminder to residents of Graaff-reinet and neighbouring towns that the annual Spring Flower Show will be held at St James’ Anglican Church this Friday, October 20, between 10:00 and 18:00.

Many local enthusiasts will be putting together floral displays for the church, using the abundance of flowers found in GraaffReinet gardens at this time of year. Even though many years of drought have forced the organisers to move away from the original “for the love of the rose” theme, the increased variety of blooms that will now be used can only enhance the arrangements on display.

Those creating the displays see it as a privilege to decorate the church, to give thanks to the Lord for His many blessings. Uplifting organ music will be played throughout the day to feed the soul, and tea and scones will be available to sustain the body. A light lunch will be served from 12 noon.

Nou gaan hy Graaff-reinetters vermaak met sy forté: vrolike humorklanke en komiese lirieke. Die aand beloof om een vir die boeke te wees, moet dit nie misloop nie!
