GRAAFF-REINET — In March of this year, police members from all over the country who had been accepted to study towards their BA Police Science degree (BAPS) funded by the SAPS, arrived in Graaff-reinet to continue with the programme towards achieving their degrees.

They undertook a project which was recently reported on in the Graaff-reinet Advertiser.

The project was aimed at collecting and then donating school shoes to learners from two schools the Graaff-reinet area.

The organising committee Captain Mkontshwana, Constable Moodley, Constable Pakade, Constable Sithole and Constable Kraai, held donation drives where businesses in the area were invited to assist them in making the project a success.

In so doing, the number of shoes which were donated rose substantially and they wish to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the following businesses who came on board: Spar, Nommerpas, The Wild Outdoors, W&F Karoo, Merino Butchery, Swancraft Panelbeaters, Jet GraaffReinet and the PL Crouse Roadworthy Centre.

On Wednesday, October 11, the BAPS students went to Kroonvale Primary and Lingcom Primary and handed over the shoes as well as chips, juices, cold drinks, rice, flour and cloth- ing. The principles of both schools commended the BAPS learners for their efforts in assisting the underprivileged children with shoes and other items.
