The greens of Graaff-Reinet Golf Club were not the only thing shining bright on 16 March, as golfers donned their finest shades of green to celebrate St Patrick's Day in style.
The annual St Patrick's golf day was a roaring success, with nearly everyone embracing the jovial spirit of the occasion.
A vibrant field of 36 players gathered for the obligatory pre-golf festivities, ensuring that the day started off on the right foot. Teeing off at 13:00, the competitors embarked on what would be a memorable round of golf.
The course itself was described as being in pristine condition, with the greens living up to their reputation of being true and yielding.
Employing an Irish scramble format, the competition was fierce, resulting in an impressive 50 points being secured by the formidable duo of Stefan Basson and Rowan George.
Jason Vers and Gerry Williams clinched the second position, while Frans Booysen and Bjorn Isaacs secured the third spot with 49 points. Among the sea of green-clad golfers, Sharon and PJ O'Krige stood out, adorning themselves in traditional Irish attire and earning the coveted title of the best-dressed team.
The success of the event would not have been possible without the generous support of the sponsor, PnP GraaffReinet, represented by Cheryl Waddelow, who provided invaluable support in the form of prizes and catering to ensure that participants were well-rewarded for their efforts.
Additionally, Gelstone, represented by Matty van Rensburg, ensured that the halfway house was stocked with refreshments to keep the energy levels high throughout the day.
With such a successful event under their belts, organisers and participants are already looking forward to keeping the gees alive in future endeavours.
