The beauty of Christ

Friends, Jesus is the measure and standard of all beauty and His beauty is reflected in the fact that:

1. He is the unchanging, transcendent Creator God…

(Isa. 7:14) “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call Him Immanuel…(God with Us).” 2. He is the eternal word made flesh… (Jn.1:1-2,14) “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning…(vs14)The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” 3. He is eternal truth. (Jn.14:6) Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

4. He is eternal righteousness / rightness and justice…

(Isa. 9:2) “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned…”

Light = truth, holiness, purity, sinlessness, perfection, righteousness…

Here in lies His beauty … He is the sinless creator. 5. He is the eternal Prince of Peace. (Lk.2:13-14) “Suddenly a great host of heavenly company appeared with the angel. Praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom His favour rests'.”

Peace is found in righteousness and justice…which is found in Jesus. Here is the beauty of Christ… Christmas is a glorious celebration for Christians…may the festivities and decorations and food and gifts and beauty cause you to look beyond the simple and see the beauty of Christ…His life, character, words, works and presence.
