Mixed pairs play-offs results
The Eastern Areas SubDistrict Bowling Association's Mixed Pairs playoff takes place at the Albany Bowling Club in Grahamstown this weekend.
The opening round was played at the Grahamstown and Albany Bowling Clubs last weekend. This round consist- ed of two Sections.
Section 1 played at Grahamstown Bowling Club, while Section 2 was played just up the road, at Albany Bowling Club.
Each section was made up of three groups, and each group had four mixed pairs.
The mixed pairs represent the Eastern Areas clubs which include Grahamstown, Albany, Port Alfred, Kowie and Kenton-on-Sea.
Each pair played three rounds over the weekend, with the winners of each group making it through to the play-offs.
This weekend’s games will see Section 1 winners face off against Section 2 win- ners, thus each mixed pair will again play three matches.
The play-offs take place at the Albany Bowling Club, with Saturday’s games starting at 2pm and Sunday’s games at 9am and 1.30pm.
The top two teams from the weekend’s play-offs will face other winners from the various areas at the Eastern Province Finals, at the Western Suburbs Bowling Club on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 January. Peter Heyns and Amanda Everton (Albany Bowling Club) Rob Croly and Bryony Shone (Kenton) Malcolm Grant and Marie Tarr (Grahamstown) Billy Krige and Marlene Jacobs (Albany) Clive Bartlett and Gwen Bartlett (Albany) Sandra Wiblin (Port Alfred) and John Hodges.
The prize-giving ceremony, where the winner’s trophy will be presented, will take place on Sunday folowing the afternoon round, scheduled for around 5pm.
