Ready for Madam President

-

In my opinion I don’t see any reason why South Africa wouldn’t be ready for a female president because the laws that were signed post 94 were put in place to empower women of this country.

This goes to show that they are indeed capable of doing just about anything that men can do and that remains quite evident because not only do they run successful businesses and occupy top government positions, but they also become church leaders.

Those are perfect examples of just how strong, resilient and capable women are. Unfortunately becoming a president doesn’t require any qualification nor accreditation but one gets elected because of the leadership skills they possess.

Above all else, women are problem-solvers and critical thinkers; they are able to make sense of certain issues and are nurturers at heart. No woman will stand to see children living in poverty and not do anything about it. No woman will stand to see South Africans voice their grievances and not do anything about it.

We have seen women ruling Parliament and telling the president to "take a seat and obey the rules of the house." That on its own shows that South Africa is ready to be led by a female president because they no longer fear standing up to men.

We are living in the 21st Century where the general belief is women cannot lead nor tell a man what to do ; but we need to bury that mentality and do away with patriarchy and prejudice against women.
