Knowing is not enough

-

King David in (Psalm 86:11) made the following request of God, “Teach me your way, O Lord and I will walk in your Truth…”

What a great request. David desired in his heart to be a scholar of the Lord, a student under the instruction of God. How we all long to be taught by the best, to sit under the teaching of great men and women, people renowned for their expertise and knowledge, possibly the reason why you chose Rhodes as your University of choice.

David desired to know the truth, truth by which to live life and so requested that God be his teacher since God is the God of truth.

“Lord, teach me your ways only, teach me your standards, your values, your law, your love, reveal yourself to me…”

Why did David desire such knowledge from God? It was so that he might walk, that he might live in that truth. “…give me an undivided heart that I may fear your name.”

David was not just interested in gaining head knowledge or just knowing the truth… he wished to live it, he wished to find satisfaction and fulfilment in it, it needed to touch his heart. What a challenge. Have you become a faithful student of Jesus?

Is it your desire to know more of the ways of the Lord, His standards, His values, His love, His law so that you may bear a greater testimony to his glory and beauty?

“Lord please give to us this same desire for your glory, Amen”
