Sunday prayer for all South Africa

- STAFF REPORTER

South Africans from all walks of life will be gathering to pray as part of the United Prayer for South Africa (Up4SA) initiative, on Sunday 26 February. Locally, all churches and Christians across Grahamstown are invited to unite in prayer this Sunday from 2.30 to 3.30pm at the Cathedral.

This will be one of many prayer services taking place on the afternoon in towns, cities and neighbourhoods all over South Africa.

“South Africa needs God, probably now more than ever,” according to a media statement from Up4SA. “We are faced with issues that are a real threat to the very foundation of our beautiful country.

“The issues we have to deal with are not only spiritual but include a breakdown of our moral, financial and governance structures. There is no better time than the present to in- tercede with petition and prayer for our beautiful country.”

Some of the critical areas which will be covered are thanksgiving for God’s love and grace, acknowledging that Jesus is the only hope for South Africa, and prayers for revival, our government, the drought, our economy and education.

At the prayer service, a compilation of prayers received from Christians all over South Africa will be declared out loud by all participants in the prayer day at each venue across the country, as a hope declaration by the nation.

“There is a stirring all over South Africa of God awakening His people to start praying in earnest for our country and for revival. Nothing else will bring true change.”
