Rugby action galore

- By STEPHEN PENNEY

Schoolboy rugby fans have a choice this weekend, as Graeme College host their annual Pam Golding Properties Graeme Rugby Day on Saturday, while PJ Olivier hosts its annual Frans Erasmus U13 rugby and netball tournament.

At Graeme, there will be U16, U14 and first-team matches and at PJ there will be a host of U13 action.

The Frans Erasmus tournament kicks off today with the first rugby games starting at 9am, after the official opening celebrations. A total of 28 teams will be taking part in various matches today and tomorrow.

On the other side of town, Saturday’s Graeme Rugby Day programme begins at 8am. With the exception of PJ Olivier vs Graeme seconds and Port Alfred vs Nathaniel Nyaluza (Marais Field), all the firstteam encounters take place on Somerset Field, with U16 and U14 games making up the remainder of the matches on Marais A and B.

Teams from various parts of the Eastern Cape will be taking part, with many playing their first fixtures of the year.

Full previews of both the Frans Erasmus U13 rugby and netball tournament and the annual Pam Golding Properties Graeme Rugby Day, as well as all the day’s fixtures, on Pages 24 and 25.
