Quality on offer in Junk Status auction

- STAFF REPORTER

The Carinus Art Centre is holding its annual ArtAuction tomorrow evening, 20 May at 6.30pm. The 2017 theme is ‘Junk Status’.

This year there is an exciting list of both new and known artists who have generously donated works to go on auction.

These include photographs by well-known photographer Obie Oberholzer, a work by Nigel Mullins, paintings by Dina Belluigi, Lucy Cobern, Lindi Lombard and Julia Mann, ceramics by Richard Pullen, Jane James, Graeme Germond, Martin Haines and Charmaine Haines, drawings by Tori Stowe and Jonathan Griffiths, graphic prints by Peter Midlane, Kathleen Sawyer and Madelize van der Merwe, a quilted wall-hanging by Mariss Stevens, photographs by Simon Pamphilon and a pair of earrings by Mareli Els.

The event would not be complete without the ever popular ‘Silent Auction’. It too will include a good selection of artworks by professional artists as well as by Carinus students.

Members of the art-loving public are invited to join Carinus for an evening of fun and enjoyment that includes feasting on their now famous ‘designer’ eats.

The cost per ticket is R140 and they are available from the Carinus secretary, Lizelle Viet, until 2.30pm today, or you can buy tickets from individual staff members. The school’s land line is 046 6224543, and the email is
