Bonus point win for Brumbies

In an 11-try feast at the Oval on Saturday, Brumbies 1st XV recorded a clinical 40-31 win over Gelvan Wallabies in their Gold Cup Qualifier. Brumbies were 14-12 in front at the break.

The home side scored six tries and claimed a bonus point in the process.

The Brumbies continued their winning momentum after an away 20-14 win against Suburban two weeks ago.

Brumbies captain Jason Potgieter led from the front with another solid individual performanc­e. Brumbies scrumming improved in the second half after an evenly matched first half contest.

Brumbies tries were scored by Antonio Mahapi, Jason Potgieter, Joe Mqubuli, Shannon Flotman, Unathi Kongwana and Chad Gill. Duane Brown made three conversion­s, while Vince Mains made two.

Brumbies 1st Reserves won their game 57-3, while the 2nds seconds won 19-5.
