Things fall apart in Grahamstown!

Grocott’s Mail is a local newspaper. We don’t read it for a perspective on national or international news such as was provided in your editorial on 9 June.

The headline “Things Fall Apart” was very applicable to the dire state of affairs locally, as confirmed by the stories on the dump situation (when last did we read anything about it in the GM?). But it’s as if the GM wants rather to divert us from just how desperate the situation in our municipality has become and to shift the focus away from those who are responsible for the mess.

It’s time for the GM as well as the strengthened GRA and Business Chamber to become less diplomatic and more robust in their dealings with the municipality. The buck stops with our City Councillors and with the municipal management.
