Archie Mbolekwa Senior Primary enlightens learners

- By BONKE LIWANI

With ‘selfie culture’ at the centre of young society nowadays, the teachers at Archie Mbolekwa took it upon themselves to enlighten their learners on their background, in light of Youth Month. Educators were dressed in school uniforms at assembly to symbolise their generation, and proceeded to give the learners a talk on the learners of 1976 and their sacrifices.

Lindiso Funani, the school’s Deputy Principal said, “Today the government provides our learners with free education, stationary and lunches, which is exactly the wishes of the youth of 1976.” He said the importance of this talk was to remind learners not to take educational opportunites for granted, because people had died for them, and the least that learners could do was put in their best efforts.

Funani further said, “They need to know that education is the key to success, and without them knowing the background of this education, they will struggle to find a direction for the future of this country.”
