Nyaluza wins U18
Nathaniel Nyaluza High School beat Mary Waters High School 18-13 (6-5 at halftime) in the Albany High Schools League U18 final on Saturday 19 August, in a fantastic display of rugby at the Grahamstown Oval.
With 10 minutes to go the score was tied at 13-all and the last couple of minutes showed true grit and determination from both sides.
However, Nyaluza edged Mary Waters with a try in the corner, courtesy of a great build-up, positive forward play and some flair by the back line. Nyaluza’s coach described the season as “a great success” and was satisfied with the overall play.
Mary Waters did not go home empty handed as their U15 team beat Ntaba Maria 33-17 in the U15 final in another display of young talent for the whole community.
The Albany High Schools League that has just come to an end has been a huge success in the district since its introduction last year.
