Blitzbokke look to bounce back
The Springbok sevens team will be looking to bounce back from their second place finish in Sydney over the past weekend as they head into the New Zealand leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series this weekend. The tournament kicks off on Saturday 3 February at midnight.
Impressive wins for GCB teams
Southwell 1st, Station Hill and Early Birds recorded impressive GCB wins over the past weekend. Southwell beat Salem, who are top of the GCB 1st league standings, by four wickets, while Station Hill beat Port Alfred 2nds by 59 runs, and Early Birds beat Salem 2nds by 60 runs.
NMB Aquatics Open Water Championships this weekend
Saturday afternoon sees the start of a busy month of open water swimming in the Eastern Cape with the Nelson Mandela Bay Aquatics 10km and 3km Open Water Swimming (OWS) Championships taking place at Marina Martinique from 1pm. This is one of the last opportunities for swimmers from around the country to qualify for the South African OWS Championships at the same venue next month.
Southern Kings still in search of first win
The Southern Kings will travel to Ulster, Ireland next week, Saturday 9 February, in search of their first win in their debut Pro14 season. Despite consistently putting up strong performances, the Kings always seem to fall at the final hurdle. However they will hope to go the distance next Saturday.
SA U19 Cricket finish strong in World Cup
The SA U19 cricket team finished strong in their last World Cup match in New Zealand, when they defeated Bangladesh on Wednesday. The South Africans eased to victory by eight wickets, with 69 balls to spare, to come in fifth place overall in the World Cup.
