EXPERT ADVICE
In love with blue, but not sure how to make it work? Palesa Ramaisa, colour consultant at Dulux, shares some tips:
• When it comes to blue, tonal shades can be used very effectively, creating a palette that ranges from light to dark and results in a classical layered look. This also works well if you want to emphasise architectural features.
• Deeper shades of blue are ideal for feature walls, while a shade or two lighter can be used for the remaining walls. Consider off-white with a blue undertone for ceilings and trims. Make sure that the undertones you pair up work well together: if you’re looking to create a cool space, stick to cool tones and when it comes to creating a warm interior space, go for warm tones.
• If you want to keep the look coherent, match your décor accessories with these shades. Consider the following colour schemes to go with your primary blue: Harmonising colour scheme Blues, blue-greens, green and yellow-green. Contrasting colour scheme Orange, red-orange, red and red-violet. CONTACT dulux.co.za
