1 Paint the stool with two coats of Annie Sloan White, allowing it to dry between coats. Once the second layer has dried, seal it with wax.

2 Cut both cords into four 6m lengths and seal the ends by burning them with the flame of a lighter to prevent them from unravelling.

3 Wrap the yellow and white cord around the legs of the stool simultaneously, securing it in place at the beginning and end with the hot glue gun. Tip We made a decorative cross at the cross bar. 4 Draw the crossstitch pattern on a piece of paper and place it on the seat. Drill holes through the seat on the red dots.

5 Use the leftover yellow cord to make a cross-stitch pattern on the seat of the stool.
