We love this!
In the Richardson house, if you stand still for long enough, chances are you'll get painted! This is a running joke between Bruce and his wife Bridget, owner of online store Love Letters Stationery – and a dedicated décor fanatic.
“It's true,” laughs Bridget. “Rooms get transformed in a weekend if I have the energy!”
Bridget started her business nine years ago when she was looking for a special gift for a friend who loves writing letters. “I couldn't find a personalised set of cards in South Africa and realised there was a gap in the market for affordable, good-quality stationery,” she says. Bridget made the pendants using pewter bowls – so creative!
But Bridget's creativity doesn't stop there. When she's not working from her home office – a charming corrugated “garden shed” in the backyard – she can be found painting a junkyard find, rearranging furniture or hanging pictures.
Her handiwork has turned their house into a stylish family home. The palette is subtle with just the right accents throughout, including interesting antiques, surprisingly affordable junk shop finds, heirlooms and various DIY projects.
“While the décor in our home changes quite a bit, I don't buy lots of new things,” Bridget says. “I repurpose, redo and move things around.” >>
