A small table and separate mirror with a frame painted in the same mint green serve as a dressing table in 17-year-old Bea Kluyts’ bedroom in Welgedacht, Cape Town. “After we broke out a wall, there was an awkward passage where the dressing table now stands,” says her mother, Thea. “Bea really wanted a dressing table but there was simply no room, so when one of my colleagues decided to toss out their ball-andclaw table, I was only too glad to take it off their hands as it was perfect for this space.” The ‘frame’ consists of old picture frames pasted onto the mirror; they were previously cerise pink and white.
