CEO LETTER

- Elmar Conradie

Hello and welcome aboard this FlySafair flight.Thank you for choosing to travel with us today, as well as for giving us the opportunity to share our passion for flying with you.

This time of year can be a little strange. On the one hand, we tend to be tired after nine months with our noses to the grindstone, but on the other hand, it’s invigorating to have the end of the year – and the summer holidays – in our sights.

Hopefully, like us, you’re feeling more inclined toward the latter state of mind! With temperatures rising and the days getting longer, there can be no mistaking the rapid approach of summer.

It is also the busiest season for airlines and at FlySafair we’ve got all our plans well under way to make sure we are prepared for the seasonal loads, and will be able to offer the same level of service you receive from us during quieter periods.

Increased demand for flights over this period also means we have the opportunity to increase our number of flights, which you will note we’ve done. In fact, we’ve even added two additional aircraft to our fleet to manage the schedule. This December, we’ll be operating more than 1,700 scheduled flights – a record high for us.

It’s important to remember that these high season seats tend to sell out fast. Waiting to make a booking always works against customers because not only do flights sell out, but ticket prices tend to rise quickly due to the high demand. If you’ve not already done so, I urge you to book your holiday flights now in order to secure the best fares.

October is also a month to reflect for us, as 16th October marks our third year of operation. In these three short years, we’ve grown from two to ten aircraft, we expanded from four routes to 12, carried four million passengers, and completed more than 30,000 flights. We were also awarded the best low-cost airline award at the six ACSA airports we operate in, rated the most on-time airline in the world and are now the second biggest low cost carrier in South Africa by fleet size.

And we’re not done yet! Starting on 27th November we’ll be offering daily services between Durban and East London, and Durban and Port Elizabeth. We’re very excited about the opportunity to bring our low fares to these new routes.

All the best from me on your journey today and I trust our teams are looking after you well. As always, I encourage you to offer us feedback on your experiences, because we’ve learnt that open conversation with our customers is the only way to craft the kind of service we want to offer. Please mail us at feedback@flysafair.co.za with any thoughts you may have.

All the best. Elmar
