Women’s League needs a financial boost

-

Women’s football in South Africa is starting to be recognised and compete with other leagues in African countries. It is a slow progress, but Sasol has been grinding and backing women in football in recent years, resulting in the growth of players like Amanda Dlamini. All credit should go to Sasol for being the dominant brand in empowering women in South Africa and fulfilling the dreams of young girls whose dream it is to be known female players. Unfortunately, Sasol cannot go all out on its own; the women’s football league in South Africa needs a solid financial boost, and Safa should be worried if they do not prioritise women’s football in the next few years. The media should also play a role in helping our women’s football be able to compete with England and America without any fear. It might be tough, but it is not impossible.
