Kick Off

TSHABALALA

-

I have never watched a penalty being scored in my whole career! If there is a penalty shoot-out, I cannot watch. In that game, I just kept looking at the crowd. They told me it had gone in – I only saw it on the tape afterwards. I felt like a million dollars in the dressing room afterwards, we had beaten a very good side and for me, this was a sense of pride. In those days there were not very many black coaches in South African football, not many at all. “I felt like I had sent out a message that said, ‘look, black coaches have what it takes to perform at the highest level’.
