Kick Off

PROSPECTS:

-

Mamelodi Sundowns will have none of the usual hurdles they face in terms of travel and fatigue when the season resumes, a major boost for coach Pitso Mosimane.

He also has arguably the greatest depth in his squad to manage player fitness should games come thick and fast as expected, allowing him to rotate without necessarily diminishing the match-day quality that some teams could face.

They must face both Soweto rivals and have managed just two wins in their last 10 league matches against the pair combined, a poor record they will need to improve on, with the game against Chiefs particularly pivotal.

Other potential stumbling blocks are Maritzburg United and Highlands Park, who will be tough and physical, and inconsistent Cape Town City, who have it in them to beat anybody on their day.

They must also face all three Limpopo clubs, though they will look at those games as winnable.

Sundowns also tend to finish their season strongly, they have taken 21 points from their last nine games in 2017/18 (without a defeat) and 19 points in 2018/19, where they won their last five matches in a row to snatch the title from Orlando Prates.
