Shu-Aib Walters
(Maritzburg United)
For all the call-ups that Walters got he never won a single cap. He was at Maritzburg at the time of the World Cup and after five-and-a-half years with the Team of Choice, joined Mpumalanga Black Aces and stayed on with the club when it became Cape Town City. He hung up his boots at the end of the 2018/19 season after a stint with Ajax Cape Town in the First Division and has been involved in development goalkeeper training since then, running the Shuaib Walters Goalkeeping Academy. Walters will turn 39 in December.
“My plan is to develop more goalkeepers through this goalkeeper academy, and we are based here in Greenside, Johannesburg. The academy was running in Cape Town for four years since the time when I was still playing but I then relocated to Johannesburg because there is a bigger market for what I am doing,” says Walters.
