Making his mark

Maluleke ultimately made his first official appearance well over a year after arriving at Dynamos and he was even surprised when Jacob Sakala walked towards him on the bench on May 28, 2003 after Frank Makua got injured.

“I can never forget that game against Jomo Cosmos in Tembisa because of the goose bumps I felt. When Makua picked up the injury the coach immediately came to me and said, ‘this is your chance to play now’.

“I was not ready for it (to play)p because I was just happy to be in the match day squad. I was sscared but after realising that there is nothing that I can do, I went in already sweating with fear. The older guys came to me and said I can do it, I just need to play my normal game and try to enjoy,” he says laughing.

Though he had won on his debut, Maluleke couldn’t progress any further at Dynamos and was justifiably loaned out to Dangerous Darkies in the Fir st

Division in January 2004.
