Brian Baloyi
Brian was a great goalkeeper and we were together at the national team. He gave us a hard time when we played against Kaizer Chiefs.
Gerald Raphahlela
‘Mgababa’ was one of my best friends at Pirates – a tough defender and a great person to talk to off the field.
Brendan Silent
Brendan was one of our most consistent players – he could play rightback, right-wing or right wing-back. He gave us balance and contributed towards Pirates’ success in Africa.
Benni McCarthy
Benni was young when we played together in the national team, but even then I could see that he was a different class.
Coach: Viktor Bondarenko
I played my best football under Viktor Bondarenko – he made me to come out of my shell because he believed in me. Before Bondas, I had Joe Frickleton and we didn’t get along. Bondas made us play from the back and he didn’t believe in just kicking the ball up front.
