Meet and greet at Ocean Odyssey

- Stefan Goosen

Last week Ocean Odyssey held a meet and greet, opening their offices to members of the tourism industry in Knysna and introducing their team to role players in the industry.

According to owner Evelyn Pepler, the company has never had a “mingle venue”, and since it’s been at its premises on Thesen Island, it never had the chance for an “opening night”.

“We turn five years old in December and we wanted to not only introduce our services and team to those in the industry, but to thank them for their support over the years. I felt it was also time for those of us in the industry to celebrate a bit after the extremely tough time Knysna has gone through,” said Pepler.

Even though tourism in Knysna is a competitive business, she said, it is also important that those involved get together as an industry. “It is important to celebrate tourism in Knysna, probably the biggest industry the town has. It thrives because of those who are passionate about what they do,” added Pepler.

The team at Ocean Odyssey prepared all the food for the event themselves, proving that they can go above and beyond the whale watching, electric bike and adventure tours they offer. Mitchell’s Brewery was also on hand with some of their award-winning craft beers.

Ocean Odyssey recently achieved Blue Flag status for three of their vessels for the fourth year in a row. According to Pepler it is an award they proudly represent and support.
