What to do with that eye in the sky

- Stefan Goosen

So, you’re out on the beach catching a tan and next thing this whirring, buzzing noise interrupts your daydream. You look up… it’s a drone… and what’s more, it’s filming you! You start waving at it angrily or hurl a stone at it. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn’t, but what can you really do about these all-too-popular privacy-invading mechanical menaces?

With new kid on the block Compact Aerial Services, which is one of the first fully licensed and officially approved remotely piloted aircraft system (RPAS) operators – or drone operators – on the Garden Route, you might just have a way to get this fly off your back.

The company, which is run locally by Rocky Reeder and Simon Walters, is not only licensed and approved by the SA Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA), but they have a direct line to the regulator and can get “illegal” drone operators into hot water if they don’t comply with regulations.

To read more about how these men can help you, or about what goes into becoming a fully licensed and officially approved RPAS operator, along with what could happen to you should you illegally operate a drone or use an illegal operator, check out the story on www.knysnaplettherald.com - exclusive to our online platform.
