Both boys’ and gi­rls’ Ramps te­ams b­ring ho­me trophies

Ri­ver­wood P­ri­ma­ry and Knys­na Mon­tes­so­ri schools com­bi­ned their se­ni­or sports te­ams two y­e­ars ago, star­ting with hoc­key, and so “Ramps” (Ri­ver­wood and Mon­tes­so­ri Pe­op­les Sports) was i­ni­ti­a­ted.

The Ramps hoc­key te­ams par­ti­ci­pa­ted in the se­mifi­nals and fi­nals of the B-di­vi­si­on for the E­den P­ri­ma­ry Schools Hoc­key Le­a­gue on Sa­tur­day 1 Sep­tem­ber.

The e­vent took pla­ce at Oak­hill sports cam­pus with four boys’ and four gi­rls’ te­ams e­ach in the A and B-di­vi­si­ons. The Ramps boys and gi­rls wal­ked a­way with gold in their di­vi­si­on.

The Ramps gi­rls’ te­am cap­tai­ned by E­mi­ly Ed­kins and vi­ce-cap­tai­ned by And­rea Col­lins won their se­mifi­nals a­gainst Ou­te­ni­qua P­ri­ma­ry and be­at La­er­skool Ge­or­ge Suid in the fi­nals.

The Ramps boys’ te­am cap­tai­ned by Iy­apha Ma­tiny­a­na and vi­ce-cap­tai­ned by R­hys Lom­bard won their se­mifi­nals, al­so a­gainst Ou­te­ni­qua, and play­ed in an 8 se­cond shoot­out to be­at G­len­wood Hou­se in the fi­nal.

All par­ti­ci­pants look­ed for­ward to the ma­t­ches with a gre­at de­al of tre­pi­da­ti­on and ex­ci­te­ment as this is the cul­mi­na­ti­on of the gre­at hoc­key that is play­ed a­mong the p­ri­ma­ry schools throug­hout the y­e­ar.

The sports­mans­hip and com­mit­ment sho­wn by the play­ers, our co­a­ches, Tar­ryn Ed­kins and de Wil­ton Lom­bard, and prin­ci­pals was a re­war­ding way to end the se­a­son.
