Marion Witte: What a shocking start. Thank you to those who have already taken the necessary steps to ensure good governance and accountability, yet another waste of resources on the horizon fixing something instead of building something. Heartbreaking.

Martin Young: Completely unnecessary in my opinion - the councillors who agreed to this decision should each provide a written statement stating why they decided on this expenditure that serves no one other than the office holder and the job recipients. That would be interesting reading indeed.

Themba Bosman: This is just a proof of how useless many councillors occupying seats in the chambers are. It's a way of masquerading their incompetence. There are tons of issues that need to be resolved with that money. With my experience with service delivery with current councillors and officials, this is a waste, none of this will help in anything. Above all those opportunities will exclude the Knysna locals, talking about people with qualifications and capabilities to serve the governance of Knysna Municipality.

Retha van Niekerk: What about all the other issues that need serious action and funds? What about the homeless shelter, the roads that are in a terrible state, the constant water leaks, the purification plant that needs to be taken off the electricity grid to cope with the constant power cuts, the constant traffic lights not working, etc. c. Etc. Etc.! Pay attention to these instead of creating jobs for your buddies!
