• ges­ta­tional di­a­betes, which can be life-threat­en­ing and needs to be treated through med­i­ca­tion, in­sulin or diet, depend­ing on the sever­ity of the con­di­tion • pre-eclamp­sia, which is ac­com­pa­nied by very high blood pres­sure, swelling of the legs and, in se­vere cases, con­vul­sions (it is also po­ten­tially life threat­en­ing) • hy­per­ten­sion (high blood pres­sure) • still­birth, which is twice as likely to hap­pen in obese pa­tients • sleep ap­noea, de­pres­sion and con­stant tired­ness.
