The American Jamaican professor and author will lead a masterclass workshop, titled Unpacking Racial Imagination — Culturally Constructed Bias, at the Jo’burg Theatre on June 13. The event starts at 2pm. At 6.30pm, she will participate in a panel discussion, titled What is a Decolonised Africa? Young Writers Perspectives, alongside Lidudumalingani Mqombothi and Athambile Masola. On June 14, she will deliver a talk titled Deconstructing Culture, Race and Privilege: Black Lives Matter at the Soweto Theatre, Jabulani. The event starts at 6.30pm.

A new mixed media show by Isaac Zavale and Minenkulu Ngoyi opened last night at the Kalashnikov Gallery in Johannesburg’s Braamfontein and runs until the end of July. The exhibition includes paintings, prints and installations. Details: 153 Smit Street, Johannesburg.
In Restless Republic, Penny Siopis experiments with form and formless painting along with experiments in glue and ink. Also at Stevenson until July 15 is Jody Brand’s exhibition, You Can’t Keep a Good Woman Down, comprising photographs and an installation. Brand will hold a public walkabout of the show at 11am on Saturday June 10.
