Don’t try this

-

So, there’s been a lot of talk recently about amasi and the proper and improper rites, rituals and ways of consuming it with umphokoqo (crumbly mealie meal) and the like.

At Friday, we are deeply concerned about those among us who think that abominations such as sugar and honey are part of the ritual eating of amasi. The ancestors have warned us of the WhatsApp and Facebook groups that support these nauseating habits that are sowing division among us.

Although there are some known users in our very own newsroom, consider this a public service announcement to uphold and protect the treasured ancient sourness of one of our most precious foods.

We are praying for your cardinal gumption, nemihlola yenu.
