TRUTH OR DARE: THE NEED FOR CONSCIOUS ETHICAL LEADERSHIP IN A FRACTURED WORLD

-

The Conscious Leadership and Ethics Summit on May 9 at the Venue in Melrose Arch promises to be a transformative day as it’s a provocative exploration of the true character of conscious, ethical leadership and its impact on the reputation and brand of a company or country – given the current global conditions and the local national elections on May 29.

Hosted by Conscious Companies and the Mail & Guardian in partnership with Sumitomo SA, Bank Syz and Joe Public, it is an opportunity for leadership to evaluate and deepen the understanding of power, purpose and service as well as to heed the call to create a more conscious, courageous and humane socio-economic and political environment. Given the upcoming elections, the time has come for leaders who hold the future of a nation or their companies in the palm of their hand, to seriously get to grips with consciousness and humanity. Failing which, all attempts to unify and re-build a country that was once a rainbowed, global beacon, would be of no avail.

We are hoping that those who join in person or virtually at the Summit will be galvanised to act and awaken the hero within themselves in the pursuit of consciousness. This is not the domain of the feeble-minded or hippies or new age flakes - that is generally the perception of conscious leadership in most boardrooms, but rather those who are energised with passion, purpose, productivity and vision for a new way of being and doing business. Those within the conscious leadership ecosystem have realised that the more they awaken to consciousness, the more powerful, courageous and responsible they become.

The Truth: The Conscious Leadership Strategic Report, the outcome of the Summit, will provide a profound new framework to the leadership of this country to help, think and identify what’s missing, what’s gone wrong and what needs to be done. The annual Report, arduously put together by the voices of the delegates, speakers, panelists and international icons from the Summit, nurtures a fervent hope that leaders will have the courage and resilience to act on its insights and input. It is collated to offer some solutions to embed conscious ethical behaviour and inspire leaders to pioneer inward transformative journeys to grasp consciousness.

The Dare: We challenge our political and business leaders of the day to reach out and embrace and implement the Report. If they are courageous enough to do so, or willing to go beyond their positional power, status and self-interest before these crucial elections to change their thinking and way of being, to understand that only they can, through their actions, facilitate a less brutal, less corrupt and gentler South Africa - then the leadership of this country, post elections, would look very different.
