MHS’s 2021 Diwali festival will be broadcast online

-

The Midlands Hindu Society (MHS) will host its annual Msunduzi Diwali Festival as an online celebration this year.

The festival will be held on October 23 from 3pm to 6pm, limited to 200 people by invitation only. There will be a live broadcast on Lotus FM at with the participation of MHS’s affiliates on October 24.

The MHS missed out on the annual celebration in 2020, which would have marked its 25th anniversary.

To keep the event Covidsafe, this year’s celebration will be broadcast on different media platforms for those who prefer to be safe at home. The event itself will be limited to 200 participants.

The programme of prayer will include the spiritual awakening by Pt Lalith Pandey with vocals and on harmonium, accompanied by Subash Singh on tabla and supported by the very talented Sri Vishnu Temple

Bhajan group who will render a Ram Katha with soul stirring Bhajans and Kirtans.

This will be followed by our annual rekindling of our spiritual flame by an interdenominational Hawan rendered by the Spiritual Heads of the Century Old Hindu Temples in the Midlands, Gurukral Shunmugam from the Sri

Siva Soobramoniar and Marriamen Temples, Pt Lalith Pandey from the Sri Vishnu Temple and Pt Kiran Satgoor from the Ved Dharam Sabha. This will be concluded by Kundalini awaking spiritual renditions by internationally renowned local talented music guru, Isaivanar Thiru Kugen Moonsamy with vocals, accompanied by Charin Govender on Harmonium, Romano Colan on tabla and Shammy Pillay on percussion.

Most of the MHS’s resources this year will go towards the distribution of hot meals and food hampers to help alleviate the nutritional needs of its less fortunate neighbours during this festive period over and above its weekly nutritional programmes.

The MHS is proud to announce that this year’s Msunduzi Festival will be broadcast live on Hindvani in partnership with the Hindi Shiksha Sangh and is supported by Capital Media.

Attendance at the event will be limited to 200 people and the MHS invites you all to follow in the media for how to get access to the festival and what you will need to have ready if you would like to join us for the Hawan ceremony in your home. If you would like to contribute towards the costs of the event or towards the Diwali nutritional initiative of hot meals and food hamper drive please contact the fundraising co-ordinator Kashmira on 082 498 4867, or event co-ordinator Naresh Amichand on 083 475 5751, or email MHS on sponsors@ kznmhs.org
