Repairs may cost thousands - resident

- Kristy Kolberg

Vandals caused substantial damage in Glentana Heuwels, Great Brak River, on the weekend of 25 and 26 August.

A number of houses, garden walls and garage doors were spray painted with graffiti. Even the lens of the security camera erected by the ratepayers’ association did not escape the vandals.

“The necessary repair work may cost the homeowners thousands. We do not know the motive behind these criminal acts. Was it to neutralise the surveillance system or was it an impulsive act of vandalism?” concerned resident, Cornè Barnard, says.

According to a number of residents in Glentana Heuwels, they saw a group of suspicious-looking white youths driving an old, white Volkswagen Golf on both evenings. Included in the group were girls. Municipal infrastructure, such as ablution facilities, were also damaged. A case has been opened at the Great Brak Police Station.
