DA elects new provincial leaders
The Western Cape MEC for human settlements, Bonginkosi Madikizela, was elected the new provincial leader of the Democratic Alliance in the province.
The Western Cape DA held its provincial congress at the Every Nation Church in Goodwood, Cape Town.
The provincial council is tasked with filling six provincial leadership positions, namely provincial leader, deputy leader, chair, deputy chair (three positions), chair of finance and additional members (four).
Elections were conducted by secret ballot, and voting was done using the single transferable voting system.
The following have been elected:
Provincial leader - Bonginkosi Madikizela Deputy leader - Albert Fritz Chair - Anton Bredell Deputy chair - Jean-Pierre Smith, Shaun August and Antoinette Steyn
Chair of finance - Andricus van der Westhuizen
Additional members - James Vos, Peter Helfrich, Conrad Poole and Tertius Simmers.
