Equipment from Sports Department provided to locals

-

Mossel Bay executive mayor, Alderman Harry Levendal, recently handed over sports equipment to representatives from various local sports codes which had a presence in the annual Mossel Bay Sport and Recreation Festival. The equipment was funded by the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS), which provides "legacy funding" to support members of the various sport codes to improve their game and skills.

The equipment included soccer, rugby, cricket, hockey and netball balls, chess clocks, hockey goalie masks, whistles, stopwatches and rugby contact shields.

According to Jean Neethling, acting district head, Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport: Eden District, the purpose of the legacy funding for equipment is “to leave a legacy behind for clubs in Mossel Bay to play their sport”.
