E­quip­ment from S­ports De­part­ment pro­vi­ded to lo­cals

Mos­sel Bay exe­cu­ti­ve ma­yor, Al­der­man Har­ry Le­ven­dal, re­cent­ly han­ded o­ver s­ports e­quip­ment to re­pre­sen­ta­ti­ves from va­ri­ous lo­cal s­ports co­des which had a pre­sen­ce in the an­nu­al Mos­sel Bay Sport and Re­cre­a­ti­on Fe­s­ti­val. The e­quip­ment was fun­ded by the De­part­ment of Cul­tu­ral Affairs and Sport (DCAS), which pro­vi­des "le­ga­cy fun­ding" to sup­port mem­bers of the va­ri­ous sport co­des to im­pro­ve their ga­me and skills.

The e­quip­ment in­clu­ded soccer, rugby, c­ric­ket, hoc­key and netball balls, chess clocks, hoc­key go­a­lie mas­ks, whis­t­les, stop­wa­t­ches and rugby con­tact shields.

Ac­cor­ding to Je­an Neeth­ling, acting dis­trict he­ad, Wes­tern Ca­pe De­part­ment of Cul­tu­ral Affairs and Sport: E­den Dis­trict, the pur­po­se of the le­ga­cy fun­ding for e­quip­ment is “to le­a­ve a le­ga­cy be­hind for clubs in Mos­sel Bay to play their sport”.
