Harp, cello concert soon

- Jeanne Pienaar

The Mossel Bay Arts Society is delighted to bring two instrumental favourites to town: Jana van der Walt on harp and Riana Schutte on cello.

A breathtaking line-up of pieces are on the programme, including

Ave Maria (Bach/Gounod), The Swan (Saint-Saëns), Hallelujah (Cohen) and Méditation from Thaïs (Massenet).

Jana is a passionate harpist, who has been awarded permanent placement on Unisa’s Roll of Honour for both harp and piano and has been intimately involved with choirs such as the Tygerberg Children’s Choir and the ProCantu Youth Choir.

Riana Schutte is a cellist of note who was a member of the Junior Odeion String Quartet and has won multiple international and local prizes.

These two outstanding musicians received rave reviews at last year’s Karoo Klassique for their popular production, Spieëldans in die Maanlig.

Lovers of fine music should not miss the opportunity to see this scintillating concert, which will take place at the Dias Museum on Thursday, 19 April at 19:30. Doors open at 18:30.

Entrance to the concert, which is open to the public, is R100 per person for members of the Arts Society, R120 for non-members and R30 for schoolchildren.

As seats are limited, booking is strongly recommended and can be done via either Abé Meintjes (083 268 3718) or Annette Strydom (076 857 2900).
