Keeping warm

-

This week we asked people if they were finding this winter colder than other recent winters.

ABONGA TWALA: “I am not finding this winter terribly cold, but I am staying at home, mostly indoors, to avoid catching Covid-19 and drinking a lot of coffee to keep warm and also green tea, to keep healthy. I have invested in a warm tracksuit.”

SONDEZWA NGQAWANA: “I don’t think this winter is as cold as other winters. I catch cold quickly, but so far I have not been cold. What helps most is I buy oranges and make soup and eat other hot food. I dress warmly late in the afternoon. Also, with the lockdown, most of my time has been spent at home, not outside.”

MAWETHU MADYONGOLO: “I think this winter is not as bad as last year’s. During the week perhaps two days are cold, but overall it’s not bad. Because of the lockdown, I stay indoors, take vitamin C and drink a lot of hot coffee and soup to warm me.”

MELVIN MAY, Heidelberg: Ek dink nie dié winter is kouer as ander nie. Ek trek in elk geval nooit dik aan nie, hoe minder klere hoe beter. Foto: Clive Pretorius

DANIÉLLE THERON, Albertinia: Ek dink dis beslis kouer as vorige jare, omdat die klimaat verander het. Al manier vir my om warm te bly, is om warm aan te trek en voor ‘n warm vuurtjie te sit. Foto: Michelle Spies

XOLELWA MBADULI, Riversdale: This winter is definitely colder than previous ones. I cover myself up with a nice, warm blanket; that’s all that helps.
