Point matrics opt for opulence at private farewell

- Linda Sparg

A group of matric learners from Point High School enjoyed a private farewell on Saturday, 10 October.

The school had cancelled its farewell because of the lockdown restrictions, as had all high schools in Mossel Bay, except for Curro Private School, which has a small group of matrics.

Point matrics chose to have farewells in smaller groups.

The farewell on Saturday, held at the Salt & Copper Restaurant in Hartenbos, was organised by one of the matrics’ mothers, Christie de Graaff.

She said: “I decided I had to do something. I wanted the occasion to have the same atmosphere as a large matric farewell, so we had a red carpet.

“The children could make an impressive entry. We were extremely happy with the venue we chose.”

“The restaurant went to so much trouble for us.”

Christie said it was a wonderful evening. As opposed to the Curro Private School matric farewell last weekend, where pareddown elegance and simplicity reigned, these matric girls chose sumptuous fabrics and designs with full, long skirts. Opulance was the name of the game.
