What do a Lamborghin­i Aventador S Roadster, Ferrari 488, McLaren Senna and Porsche GT3 RS have in common?

They are all competing in the Justworx Daytona Rally from 20 to 25 May.

As the time draws nearer to South Africa’s hyper and supercar owners taking on more than 1 500km of insane tar, mountain passes and race circuits, the collection of vehicles taking part gets more and more impressive.

The country will not only see the world’s finest hyper and supercar brands together, but will get to enjoy an array of limited edition vehicles such as the McLaren 765LT, Porsche GT3 RS, Ferrari F8 Tri turbo and McLaren Senna as well as a few special collection cars such as a 1992 BMW 325i and Corvette Stingray.

On 22 May, these beauties will have their day in Mossel Bay.

This six-day and six-night rally, where the captains of the industry will be able to enjoy their vehicles to the maximum safely, starts in Port Elizabeth and ends in Cape Town. The route is over 1 543km over the five days and the best moments will be captured on the Daytona Rally Instagram page (@ daytonaral­ly).

With a full media crew on board there will be a three-part series of all the highlights which will be aired after the event.

No crowds

Unfortunat­ely, spectators will not be allowed due to Covid-19 event regulation­s as it is currently a criminal offence to gather in large crowds in public spaces.

Residents are requested to take note of the safety rules that will be enforced for the duration of the race. Motorists are requested to remove their vehicles parked on what will form the race track by no later than 17:00 on 21 May.

The race track includes the complete length of George Road, Church Street, Marsh Street between Church and Wassung streets, Wassung Street between Marsh Street and Montagu Street, Montagu Street between Wassung Street and Church Street, as well as the Dias Museum parking area.

21 May from 18:00 to 23 May at 12:00 soft road closures.

22 May from 07:00 to 24:00 - Louis Fourie Road turn-off on to George Road will be closed at 07:30 until after the race.

Restricted access will be enforced from 22 May from 07:00 to 24:00.

All parking areas in George Road, at the Museum parking area, in Marsh Street (the area between Church Street and Wassung Street as well as all parking bays in Wassung Street and Montagu Street from Church Street to Wassung Street, as well as all parking bays in Church Street from Market Street to Hofmeyr Street will be off limits from 05:00 to 24:00 on 22 May.
