Benefits added to municipal app to enhance communication

This year Mossel Bay Municipality launched the tailor-made Collab Citizen municipal smartphone app, designed to enhance two-way communication and fasttrack service delivery in Mossel Bay.

The application offers a number of handy and user-friendly features, including the ability to view and pay municipal accounts and to register service delivery requests fast and conveniently – any time, from anywhere.

Residents are further regularly updated through push notifications on traffic alerts, weather warnings, loadshedding schedules, power outages, water interruptions, public meetings and more.

What makes this communication channel so convenient, is that it allows users to subscribe only to the updates they wish to receive. Users may select a single ward or add multiple areas, such as their residence, place of work and other areas they generally frequent. Municipal newsletters, news articles and other relevant content is also available on the app.

As promised at the launch of the Collab Citizen app, there have been new, exciting additions.

The latest addition is the sixth tile – the

MORE button. This button brings a great deal of value add to the app, which includes: The ability to buy electricity; access to the municipal website where much information is available, such as council agendas, job opportunities, by-laws and much, much more. With the festive season upon us, the “MORE” button now also grants direct access to Mossel Bay Tourism’s comprehensive events calendar, allowing locals and visitors to keep a finger on the pulse and plan their itineraries to a tee.

Members of the public can call 044 606 5000, during office hours as well as after hours to be served by the Call Centre. Any correspondence can also be send to admin@mosselbay.gov.za.

However, emails sent to this nodal point are generally answered three to four days after receipt, as they need to be referenced and sent to the correct department for attention. For logging an urgent service delivery request, the Collab Citizen smartphone app is the ideal option to secure fast response.

The Collab Citizen application uses minimal data and can be downloaded from Huawei AppGallery, Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
