Local is Police Woman of Year
The South African Police Services Excellence Awards for the Western Cape were held in Cape Town on Saturday evening, 11 November.
In a night of celebration and recognition, Garden Route police stations stood out, winning several prestigious awards across various categories.
An administration clerk at Da Gamaskop Police Station in Mossel Bay, Nogcina Khohliwe, was named the Western Cape South African Police Service Woman of the Year.
In the sphere of community engagement, KwaNonqaba secured the position of Community Policing Forum (CPF) second runner-up, reflecting its commitment to fostering strong ties between the police and the community. The award was received by the CPF chairman, Shadrack Shishana.
George secured the title of Best Police Station in the Western Cape in the level 13 Brigadier category, attributed to the leadership of Brigadier Nolan Michaels and the dedication of the station's members.
Knysna also shone brightly, being honoured as the Best Station in the Western Cape in the Colonel Station category. Congratulations were extended to Colonel Francois de Wet, the station management and its members for their outstanding accomplishment.
The Garden Route Flying Squad had a momentous win, earning the coveted Catch of the Year award. This accolade was awarded to Sergeant Muller and WO Kennard for their exceptional contributions.
Albertinia Police were recognised for their commitment to serving their community, receiving the Rural Station of the Year award. Ladismith's Visible Policing team stood out as the Vispol Team of the Year for its dedication and excellence in ensuring public safety.
Riversdale Police Station claimed the title of Reservist of the Year, underscoring the vital role reservists play in supporting the regular police service.
