Volunteers needed
This year’s Mighty Men Mossel Bay Conference (MMCMB23) takes place from 15 to 17 December at Bartelsfontein on the R327 road outside town, and organisers are expecting thousand of visitors to experience the event that weekend.
In preparation, they are calling on volunteers to lend a helping hand.
“The conference requires a lot of time and event planning and we couldn’t do it without our wonderful volunteers,” says MMCMB23 chairperson Lukas Swart. “Serving along with others is a great way to serve the Lord, make new friends, and have some fun in the process.”
"We will need between 500 and 600 volunteers and remember, there’s no such a thing as ‘too many’ when it comes to volunteers.
Options to work
“Also, don’t hesitate to offer your assistance just because you are not available for all three conference days. You will not necessarily be expected to be there every day of the event. There will be options to work for a day or even half a day.”
Volunteers should preferably be aged 18 and over, since the wide array of tasks to be done at Bartelsfontein will be more suited for adults. On the Friday and Saturday the requirement is for male volunteers, but on the Sunday women will be most welcome to assist.
“The work will actually commences before 15 December, to prepare the Bartelsfontein site for such a substantial crowd. Tents and fences will have to be erected and work must be carried out in the gardens and elsewhere on the grounds.
“So those ready for some good, old physical toil from the Tuesday to the Thursday will be most appreciated,” he says, adding that women will be asked to help with the sale of memorabilia and related tasks on Sunday’s family day.
Marshals
From 15 to 17 December there will be a wide variety of activities and volunteers will be able to serve as marshals or help assigning parking for cars, while also attending to crowd control and other logistical aspects of the

MMCMB23 will charge no attendance fee, so volunteer work is therefore without compensation. Without any payment coming in, the organisers fully rely on those people who are helping out of the goodness of their hearts.
