Hot Summer of Touch here soon

-

Registrations for the Hot Summer of Touch 2023 series are increasing.

With two weeks left before the first ball gets passed in the 2023 Hot Summer of Touch series, teams are encouraged to submit their registration forms.

Following an amazing series in 2022, the beach touch rugby festival is excited to announce that a massive series for 2023 is expected.

"After a tough few years during Covid, the series once again sprung to life last year. It has made the tournament even more sought after," said Western and Southern Beach Touch Association (WSCBTA) chairman Gerome Vermeulen. "The events will shape up to be one of the best yet. Although sponsorship has been hard to come by, this event has such a loyal following in the Helderberg basin that the organisers feel it’s their obligation and responsibility to the youth to ensure its long-term future."

The Hot Summer of Touch series gets under way at Stilbaai on 26 December, followed by the final two events taking place on 28 and 30 December at Hartenbos and Dias Beach, respectively.

This series has been ever-growing since its first inception over two decades ago, in 2001. Beach touch rugby-loving fanatics can look forward to seeing their favourite team in action like the defending Champion Forward Foundation Legends and 2022 runners up Composure. The Etson Warriors will also be lurking in the shadows as will new boys in the Pro Series, Most Wanted and Liberty Webb Touchies.

"The sand always brings out the best in side-stepping, raw talent and handling skills,” said Vermeulen, who also commented that Springbok hero Damian Willemse as well as many other Springboks and provincial players had cut their teeth on the beaches of the Hot Summer of Touch over the past 23 years.

Teams can register on the newly updated Hot Summer of Touch series website (https://hotsummeroftouch.co.za/) or call/ WhatsApp 062 770 6818. The action on the sand gets under way from as early as 09:00 on each event day, with teams still being allowed to enter and register their teams on each morning of the event from 07:15.
