Credible silver medal for Union Stars
Although the Union Stars women’s team has lost their title as Cricket South Africa T20 club champions to the Rhythm Durban High School Old Boys Club from KwaZulu Natal the Oudtshoorn based club has produced a credible performance.
Union Stars who won the SWD Women’s club title for the 9th consecutive time, went on to win the Western Cape Triangular series. They won four out of their five matches in the tournament that was hosted in Potchefstroom last weekend.
They lost to the eventual champions DHSOB, but can take a lot of pride from their effort. The Union Stars chairperson, Adv Michelle Weyers, was full of compliments for their efforts and guts and promised that they would be back again next season to claim back the prestigious title. “The girls have shown real fighting spirit backed by hard work and dedication and made us proud,” she said.
