Enter CDM race in time
Over 200 runners have so far registered for the Capricorn District Municipality (CDM)4-in-1 Marathon.
This according to CDM spokesperson Moffat Senyatsi who stressed that with three weeks to go before the race, the municipality urges all interested runners not to wait for the last minute rush to register.
“Early entry statistics indicate that there is huge interest in all categories – 5km, 10km, 21km and 42km; and there might be long queues at the venue on the day of the race and this might oversubscribe some distances or categories.”
The marathon is expected to take place on February 17 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium and expected at the event are runners from various running clubs in the country as well as from neighbouring countries.
CDM Mayor Mamedupi Teffo vowed during the launch of the event to participate in the 21km race.
We are pleased that this marathon has grown to become a national interest for runners.
“With this marathon, we are building social cohesion and promoting a healthy lifestyle while at the same time runners can prepare for the Two Oceans and Comrades marathons”, she said, urging runners to book their spots in the race.
She added that they want to make running and athletics a popular sport in their local municipalities.
“We are pleased that this marathon has grown to become a national interest for runners from many different backgrounds, who always look forward to the next edition as they know this municipality won’t disappoint. That is just who we are because we are the home of excellence and opportunities.”
Although final manual entries will be allowed at the venue on race day, the municipality urges anyone wanting to partake in any of the categories to register for the race online at www.peaktiming.co.za.
The race will be hosted in partnership with Polokwane Athletic Club, sponsored by Mercurius Polokwane. The marathon will start at 05:00 on February 17 for all the distances, with R150 000 in prizes for the winners.
