Passion labours success, says attorney Mantlhane
Attorney Mantlhane Molepo’s passion for law emanates from the complicated injustices she says her father experienced a few years ago while she was still at school.
“I felt helpless at the time and wanted to help him, but today I’m able to proudly and genuinely help other people like my father who did not have the legal resources to resolve their problems as required.”
Molepo was born and bred in Polokwane, but these days resides in Pretoria where her law firm is based.
“I have a strong passion for the law because it is forum that allows me to help vulnerable people and bring them hope. There is nothing I want more than to solve people’s problems with passion, skill and experience. Law is a field that allows you to sympathise with people for their injustices and I’m naturally empathetic. I strive to promote justice, fairness, legal excellence and integrity.”
She opted for a career in law because her personality aligns with the profession - she’s outspoken and fierce, she told Polokwane
Observer.
“This aids to my passion as I believe a good attorney is a passionate one.”
Molepo obtained a law degree from the University of Johannesburg and completed her practical legal training at a legal practice in Polokwane in 2014.
She served her articles at Matsi Mailula Inc. Attorneys in Pretoria from 2015 to 2017 and got admitted as an attorney in 2017.
She then took part in an advanced trial advocacy course in 2019 and obtained certification.
Molepo also obtained a legislative drafting certificate in 2022 from the University of Cape Town and completed a mediation
course with Lead in 2021, practical legal training and debt collection course in 2023 where she obtained certification as well.
“Pursue law only if there is a deep-rooted passion for it, because it is not an easy profession to enter into and sustain. Passion is the only thing that will keep you in the profession, help you survive and keep going forward despite the challenges faced. Passion is what will differentiate you from the rest. Passion labours success.”
