TIME IS… MONEY

How interesting to read about Joe Faddell’s Rolex Submariner (Letters, September 2016). I, too, longed to own one at the age of 18 and scraped up £41 10s to purchase one in 1958. I wore it for 25 years until the servicing became too expensive, so donated it to Rolex Watch Company in Switzerland.

Ten years later, I inherited a Rolex Gmt-master, which I dare not wear as it is too valuable and costs too much to run. I wear a Swatch. DAVE REYNELL KNYSNA
